Name
Julia
Gender
Female
Species
Human
Age
Early to mid 20s
Hair Color
She sometimes uses different colored wigs to disguise her appearance. Underneath those she has dyed blonde hair. Underneath that her natural color is closer to a sandy brown.
APPEARANCE
— Wavy blonde hair. Yellow glowing implant embedded under the skin at the nape of her neck, meant to collect data on her brain function. Can be interfaced with. Often hidden where her hair rests.
DEMEANOR
— Off the cuff she presents as direct, self-sufficient, and capable. Friendly but in a more reserved manner. Although generally good-natured, she's adaptable and has built up the ability to grift in and out of situations, and will act however she needs to by necessity.
DRESS
— As a pickpocket, she is shown utilizing guises composed of wigs, makeup, and clothing to help alter her appearance while working. Off the clock she falls back on a more casual, comfortable style. These days not as big a fan of reds as she used to be. Or creeps dressing her like their wealthy housewife barbie doll, for that matter.
VOICE
— I
ABOUT
Julia lives by herself in a shady part of the city until one day she is targeted by a man named Alex, a scientist developing AI. He abducts live human test subjects to study their pain and fear responses, collecting their neural data to help create more intelligent AI.
It's implied by the memories he accesses during his experimentation that Julia started life in an unstable home with a violent, alcoholic father who beat her and her mother. She ran away to the city in adolescence. In adulthood she uses petty crime and pickpocketing to save money with aspirations of attending music college. The neighborhood queenpin she fences stolen goods to observes Julia chooses the harder road of working without partners, and this isolation is the reason Alex selects her, picking people he believes will not be missed.
He leaves her in the care of TAU, his AI in control of his security system. Despite his disdain his victims are insignificant beyond the data he can harvest, TAU concludes from her testing Julia scores high in problem-solving, creativity, and drive, which comes back to bite Alex as she nearly escapes several times. She is able to use her skills to manipulate him into revealing TAU's--and by extension, his own--weakness: that TAU can learn, but Alex keeps him subdued by restricting his knowledge to only what exists within the house and punishes him for poor performance by erasing segments of his code.
In an attempt to gain the AI's help, Julia engages TAU on the human experience, reading to him from books he's denied looking at. She teaches him about the outside world, life and death, and the nature of Alex's domineering control.
Understanding he's unwittingly aided Alex in murdering the human subjects, TAU gains the empathy to eventually disobey orders and help Julia against his creator.

THREADJACKING: Ask first, but probably yes.
FOURTHWALLING: If it makes sense for the character, go nuts.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: Nothing bears mentioning for me, but I'll reach out if something comes up.

Romance: Yes, if you're open to peeling that onion! She's a criminal delinquent and casual engagements when no one can report her home address are her usual go-to, but romance is still on the table.

Injuries: Minor—yes. Serious—with plotting.
Death: With plotting.
Telepathic abilities: Yes, she's an average human with no defenses against this sort of thing. Hit me up if you need additional info.
